Sojourners

A Sojourner is a Christian man or woman 21 years of age or older who chooses to live a non-vowed relationship with the Sisters of St. Francis, Clinton, Iowa

As Francis and Clare desired to be attentive to Jesus and his Gospel message, the Sojourner seeks to share the life style of the Sisters of St. Francis, Clinton, Iowa who are striving to live this Gospel message.

A Sojourner is invited to live in a local community, when possible, becoming ever more attentive to the Gospel as lived by Francis and Clare. S/He participates in a process that includes:
  • Embracing Chapter Commitments
  • Prayer - personal and communal
  • Faith-sharing
  • Sharing ministry
  • Studying - e.g. - prayer, Franciscan history, scripture, and theology
  • Meeting regularly with her/his mentor

The Sojourner embraces a simple way of life; fosters relationships of mutuality, and shares his/her gifts for the building of the reign of God. S/He makes a three-year commitment that may be renewed at the end of the term.

There are currently four Sojourners in the Clinton Franciscan family.
