Our Mission

Joan Holland OSF
"Our Christian principles of justice, peace and compassion drive me to respond to the needs of society."

- Joan Holland OSF

We Clinton Franciscans, in the spirit of Saint Francis and Saint Clare, are called to contemplation and continuous conversion and are sent as instruments of God's peace. We promote active nonviolence and peacemaking, seek justice for those marginalized and care for all creation.

 - Mission Statement. Adopted: February 2010

This Mission Statement of the Clinton Franciscans both expresses and guides the life and work of the sisters, sojourners and associates.

Learn how we live out our mission in the Advocacy section of this website.

Discover how we have come to commit ourselves to carry out this mission. The evolution of congregational mission and ministry is re-examined in meetings heldevery four years called "chapters" and the results in a new chapter commitment statement.

The Center for Active Nonviolence and Peacemaking was created as a vehicle to further the mission of the congregation.

Our Corporate Public Stands were taken in response to specific issues that affect society.

We draw inspiration from many Resources. We encourage you to explore these so that you may grow along with us.
