"In a spirit of compassion,
let us embrace all those fleeing
from war and hunger or forced by discrimination, persecution, poverty and environmental degradation to leave their homelands."

- Message of his Holiness Pope Francis
for the celebration of the 51st World Day of Peace

The theme for Pope Francis' annual World Day of Peace message for 2018 is: "Migrants and Refugees: Men and Women in Search of Peace"

In his 2018 Message for the World Day of Peace (January 1) Pope Francis urges us to turn a "contemplative gaze" toward our migrant and refugee brothers and sisters and to respond to their plight with four "mileposts for action."
