Exploring Intersections: Catholic Sisters on Racism, Migration and Climate
April 14, 2021 3:00pm to 4:00pm
This month our expert panelists will take a look at the massive
environmental challenges we face, and our responsibilities to address them.
What exactly does it mean to care for creation, particularly for people of
faith? How do the impacts of climate change affect the poor, marginalized and
most vulnerable among us? And what are some of the steps we can make to be wise
stewards of the Earth's resources, and create a sustainable future for
humankind?
In Laudato Si', Pope Francis emphasizes that caring for creation is intrinsically tied to caring for our vulnerable neighbors. "The human environment and the natural environment deteriorate together; we cannot adequately combat environmental degradation unless we attend to causes related to human and social degradation. In fact, the deterioration of the environment and of society affects the most vulnerable people on the planet... The impact of present imbalances is also seen in the premature death of many of the poor."
