In keeping with our founding charism, we work for the human development of all peoples through education, healing and related ministries.
Clinton Franciscans began ministering in Illinois in 1898 as teachers. they soon took over operation of their first hospital there. Today fourteen sisters serve throughout the state as chaplains, in parish and liturgical ministry, as elementary teachers, high school administrators and college professors. Sisters are working directly with persons with HIV/AIDS, with Alzheimers patients, with children and families in need through diocesan agencies, and with mentally handicapped adults in L'Arche.
